Toilet Paper Roll Peacock
"Spotting a peacock’s beautiful tail in full display is always a delight – but sometimes they like to keep their beauty hidden. My family always has our fingers crossed that we’ll get to see his beautiful tail fanned out and on display! We don’t always get lucky, but this Toilet Paper Roll Peacock is ready to show off at all times! Several months ago my daughter made a toilet paper roll craft and she has not stopped playing with it! I just love that I don’t need to spend money on a fancy new toy when we can quickly create one with items that we already have on hand."

Materials List
- Colored construction paper
- Pencil
- Craft glue
- Sharpie or gel pen
- Empty toilet paper roll
- Scissors
Instructions
-
Select different shades of green, blue, and yellow construction paper for the peacock. The template includes the following patterns- base (including head and body), wings, 2 tail bases, tail feather patterns, beak, and eyes. Trace the template patterns on the selected construction paper and cut out the traced pattern.
-
Glue the small teardrop-shaped tail feather cutouts onto the larger tail feather cutouts
-
Glue the small wing cutouts to the sides of the body base.
-
Glue the eyes and the beak onto the head.
-
Glue the small tail cutout to the big tail cutout, lining up the bottom side of each piece. Use your toilet paper roll to measure where to cut slits on the bottom of the tail base. The space between the slits should equal the diameter of the toilet paper roll.
-
Apply glue to the outer part of the tail base (near the scalloped border) and attach the teardrop-shaped feather patterns
-
If desired, use a sharpie to add details to the feathers.
-
Cut your toilet paper roll in half so you have two short cylinders
-
Cover one of the short TP roll sections with construction paper (the same color used for the peacock’s body)
-
Glue the peacock’s body to the front side of the covered toilet paper roll.
-
Slide the slits of the tail over the top of the toilet paper roll to complete the craft.
