My grandma used to make fleece blankets and have them donated to street people.

These are also great project to make and donate to hospitals, shelters and schools. If you make them for children in hospitals, do not use two layers. The double layer blanket becomes too warm for the child to use inside. Instead, use one fabric piece, cut the strips the same as if you were using two, and tie a knot at the top base of the strip. It looks very pretty and is lightweight.

this is a great idea. I plan to make some. My sister is also a home schooler to her 4 kids and loves it though hard to find time at moment for all her crafts of her own. great idea. rayelynn
