Instructions
-
This step will need to be done beforehand by an adult:
Wash the linen and rinse it thoroughly in cold water to remove any sizing agent from the material. Allow the linen to dry and iron it thoroughly before continuing with the next step.
Fold the linen 0.2" from the edge and iron it down neatly to keep the fold in place. Repeat on the other three sides. Then, fold the linen a second time on each side, folding it 0.6" from the edge and sew a double fold hem all around the linen. This will prevent the tray cloth from fraying. -
Use the black textile pen and draw a stick boy or stick girl, grass, or anything else that will make the picture personal, on the tray cloth. Tip: Depending on the child's age, the picture can first be drawn with pencil, and then the black pen can be used to draw over the pencil lines.
-
Use the textile penns to color the picture and allow to dry thoroughly.
-
Use the butterfly stamp and the textile pens to stamp seven butterflies onto the tray cloth. Color the stamp with the pens, then place the stamp onto the tray cloth and press down on the stamp to transfer the image. Color it again and repeat. When stamping, the butterflies must face in different directions, as this will create a more interesting effect.
-
Use the sponge and the ultramarine blue textile pen to color the sky. Color the sponge with the pen, then dab the sponge onto the sky area of the tray cloth. Keep coloring and dabbing until the sky has enough color.
-
Use the glitter glue to add detail to the grass.
-
Allow to dry flat for 24 hours and iron to finish it off.
