Materials:
- One 9” wide white economy paper plate
- Yellow tissue paper
- Acrylic paint in the following two colors: flesh and pink
- One pair of googly eyes with a diameter of 30mm
- Red and black colored felt-tip pens
- Self adhesive A4 magnetic sheet
- Sponge
- Quick-drying craft glue
- Standard scissors
- Zig zag scissors
- Sheet of newspaper
Instructions:
1. Use the sponge to give the round inner center of the plate a wash with the flesh acrylic paint. Remember not to use too much paint when using a sponge, as this will cause the paint to smudge. Remove excess paint by dabbing it on a sheet of newspaper before applying the sponge. Allow the plate to dry thoroughly.
2. Make the sunflower petals by doing the following:
a. Cut a strip sized 1.6” x 10” from the yellow tissue paper.
b. Fold the strip in half twice.
c. Use a drop of glue at the bottom of each fold to keep the folds in place.
d. Cut the end opposite to the glued area with the zig zag scissors.
3. Glue the flower petal to the plate.
4. Repeat step 3 until the whole edge of the plate has been covered with flower petals. Only the round inner center of the plate must be left uncovered.
5. Glue the two googly eyes in place.
6. Add some rosy cheeks with the sponge and the pink paint.
7. Finish the face by adding eyebrows, a nose and a mouth with the felt-tip pens.
8. Cut a strip from the magnetic sheet. Peel off the protective paper and glue the strip to the back of the paper plate.
